Paul Whitton

About: I have been interested in photography since school, when my dad bought me my first 35mm Olympus OM10 camera. Now semi-retired, I have more time to spend taking photographs and joined my first camera club after moving to Ireland in 2019.

Interests: Photography, computers, walking with my wife and dog.

History: I studied mechanical engineering, graduating with a bachelor of science honours degree in 1983. I worked for British Coal for 20 years, ending up as head of IT (Midlands Group). I started my own computer business in 1995 and still run it to this day.

What Paul has to say: Now that I have more time to spend on photography, I love the creative side of making images. I get to use my computer skills with this fantastic hobby and can help people who struggle with the technical aspects of photography. I joined the group to learn and progress with like-minded friends to enhance my photographic skills. I love creating portraits, taking drone images and (when the skies clear) astrophotography.
