Interests: My main interests include a wide range of practical DIY projects, particularly woodwork which I find therapeutic, and which can involve anything from simple carpentry to boat building. I am also interested in a broad range of music, in boating and walking our dog. My work has always been a major hobby, particularly with the rise of exciting new energy challenges and this has delayed my retirement, an event I have avoided being apprehensive about life without major projects; then photography again came to mind, and I look forward to this new learning experience.
History: Tógadh mé i Ros Goill i nDún na nGall sna caogaidí, in a wholly Gaelic speaking peninsular community, a linguistic and cultural challenge for my young mother, newly arrived from her native Leicester city, a different life for her and in that unelectrified time and place of nighttime darkness, a world away from today. Early memories of my father's wind charger experiments tie with my embracing electrical engineering as a career. I established an engineering enterprise (premium-power.com) focused on providing power system solutions internationally and now ably led by my son and daughter-in-law. Such photography as I have undertaken in recent years has been for work or family related events.
What Hugh has to say: I start very far behind the standard of this group, but I want to learn and to participate. I look forward to exploring the creative side of my mind through photographic expression, and to learning from and mixing with a like-minded group of people.
